Design and build new web applications and database schemas for a high-load production environment (Perl, Apache::ASP, Oracle, Linux, Solaris) and integrate them with existing systems. Troubleshoot and upgrade legacy codebases. Modify and upgrade online gaming server behavior (Perl, XML, Oracle). Extend and performance tune personalized email newsletter scheduler and server. Maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades to a legacy system that handles an extremely large user base. Specific challenges include deriving accurate reports from old data to support new business rules and modifying and optimizing a legacy personalized mailing list system.

Designed and developed end-to-end automated publishing systems for clients using relevant technologies (3B2 Publishing Engine, Perl, XML, XPath, XSLT). Communicated with client management to determine and prioritize high-level goals, making sure to keep them in the loop during development. Worked with the client's technical team to fine-tune their data/DTD and develop printing specifications. Specific project information:
Canadian House of Commons
Black box automation of PDF production mirroring the legislative revision process. Technical highlights: multi-line change highlighting, multiple dynamic document types & page layouts and multi-column dual language line numbering & vertical alignment.
Rockwell Collins
User-assisted automation of looseleaf aircraft manual production, including change-only supplements. Technical highlights: seamless workflow integration with Empolis SigmaLink, self-documenting version control per manual and multiple nested levels of revision markings.
Boeing eMOD
Usability and efficiency improvements to internal quality assurance and auditing system for the Automated Publishing System template, relative to both the tester and the system maintainer.
Internally, designed and implemented tools to increase productivity and reusability. Researched and prepared reports and recommendations to improve marketing and communication through the company website. (Advent's website has since been dramatically overhauled and significantly improved, following my recommendations in most places.)
